Abstract
Based on an alternative approach, it is assumed that risk is produced socially, as well as by human settlements. This article analyses the production of disaster risk in Mexicali during the first three decades of its development. Using a pressure and release model, we carry out a historical review to identify decisions, situations and interests that have intervened in the configuration and transformation of a complex relationship between natural hazards and vulnerability.
