Abstract

The objective of this study is to estimate the recreational value of the Parque Nacional Bahia de Loreto (PNBL), in Baja California Sur, Mexico, by using the aquatic and sport fishing activities which are typically carried out there to infer the recreational economic value of the natural protected area (NPA) , by means of the travel cost method (TCM) . The environmental problem identified in the study area is presented first. Second, we briefly describe the travel cost method approach, and mention its strengths and weaknesses. Results of studies carried out in similar places are shown, as well as the descriptive statistics of the survey and the recreational economic valuation analysis for the study area.
