Abstract
The impact of grain price increases on tortilla and white bread consumption observed between July 2006 and July 2008 is estimated in this article. Tortilla and white bread consumption levels for three different household strata in Guatemala were calculated based on price and income elasticity of demand. Results indicate that quantities of tortillas and white bread consumed in all households decreased in response to price increases.
