Abstract

As a result of excess supply, watermelon producers face a price reduction problem in May, June, and July. With the objective of modeling supply control policies to improve profits, a linear programming model of the watermelon market in Mexico was formulated. Production planning is the best policy to increase profits; therefore, the promotion of a national organization of watermelon producers is recommended to stabilize the market.
